Watson Bros Gun History

Watson Bros was founded by Thomas Watson in 1875 taking over the premises of Durs Egg. In 1885 Thomas senior handed over the firm to his two sons Arthur and Thomas.

The Watson Bros records go back to 1875 from our original premises in Pall mall all the way through to Towerbridge rd where we manufacture and restore guns today.

Should you be interested in tracing the history of your gun please send us the gun serial number and the name of the gun. Please note that the name of the gun should be either Thomas Watson or Watson Bros. Any other name is not associated with ourselves and we do not hold any records.

To complete, once purchased please email admin@watsonbrosgunmakers.com with all your details, serial number and type of gun also any other information you feel relevant. We will respond once our research is completed usually within two weeks.

Pair of Piotti game guns

12 BORE /side by sides

Finest Italian guns of the modern era. Piotti pride themselves in making handmade guns to a very similar fashion to English guns.

This pair although plain action border engraved with case colour have all the best elements you expect to see in a pair of guns. Sidelock ejectors , self opening with the Holland system and quite frankly impossible to make at this money.

Barrels are 27 5/8" 70mm chambers choked full and half in both guns. Bores are perfect at .727" The wall thickness is comparable to a new gun with minimum walls of .028" .030" .032" .028"

These double trigger guns weigh 7lb 10z with stock measurements of length 15 5/8" inc 1" wood extension Bend of 1 1/2"  2" and a cast off of 3/8"

12 BORE /side by side

Beautifully restored by ourselves this 12 bore sidelock ejector.With very good condition 27" barrels with 2 3/4 chambers, 1/4 and 3/4 chokes. Minimum wall thickness of .028" in both bores. Bore sizes of  Left .731" Right .732" proofed at .729"   Engraved with small scroll and name inlaid in gold. Carved breech ends and all set off with case colour hardening. All wood stock length of 14 3/4". Wrapped in its beautiful lightweight leather case.

Pair of Watson Bros game guns

Pleased to have acquired this time capsule pair of guns. Purpose made in the 1930's for driven game. Engraved by the legendary Harry Kell with his classic style and carved breechends.

Made with 29" barrels with very good wall thicknesses and bores.

The perfectly matched pair of stocks were restocked in the 90's to 14 3/4" all wood.

In their original case with original canvas outer which are a grand lesson in craftsmanship to be admired.

Ornately engraved by Andy Miles with oak leaves in relief.

Watson Bros 28 Bore

28 BORE / Pigeon Gun

A new gun ready for the final finishing stage and adjusting to clients measurements.

A self opening sidelock ejector round body with our signature coffin shape action.

Barrels - 29 1/2". Choked both 3/4 presently with a wide raised matted flat top rib giving superb pointability.

A beavertail forend and pistol grip stock made from deluxe walnut.

Actioned round body with sideclips fitted with double triggers.

Engraving ornately carved with Oak leaves, complementary carving down the barrels with a carved/pierced lever adorned with a pheasant head.

The whole piece wrapped in a lightweight brown leather case ,yellow stitching and blue interior.

Watson Bros. 12 bore side by side deluxe

 

Gun 8004 Built in 1920 - Best side lock ejector - 30" barrels choked full and half with .733" bores. Very good wall thicknesses of minimum .027" and game rib.

This double trigger gun has a third grip, auto-safety and is profusely engraved by Harry Kell in his signature style.  The gun has been restocked to 15" with a beautiful piece of wood that befits the period.

The gun weight is 6lb 10oz

Complimented with its beautiful original case,  restored but keeping its original label.  Complete with its original tools and accessories and for protection, a deluxe new canvas outer.
