Stephen Grant 5963/4
An original pair of Stephen Grant 12 bore side by side sidelever guns.
Made in 1910 , What attracted us to this pair of guns in such appalling condition?
The beautiful side lever actions is the answer. The workmanship on these guns is 2nd to none. The beautiful detonating all around the actions, whether you look at the file up on the tops to the double beaded back on the bottoms. Then take a close look at the quality of the fine small scroll. Remarkably well preserved. Taking out the lockwork we found these to be in similar fine condition.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the stocks or the barrels for that matter. The ejectors also need to be rebuilt. We propose to rebarrel the guns and also restock using figured walnut similar to the period but with the best figure matching the style of the period.
The guns still possess their original case which will be sympathetically restored.
We are looking for the next custodian of these fine guns to be returned to their former glory.
All for the sum of £95,000. plus taxes
